Brewers help Slade Green Maintenance Depot back on track

Brewers Decorator Centres are experts in domestic decorating as well as offering advice and specifications for any manner of industrial and commercial projects.

When Network Rail embarked on the refurbishment of Slade Green Maintenance Depot, Brewers were on hand with the expertise to recommend the right products for the job based on its individual needs.

The Slade Green Maintenance Depot maintains trains used to carry the South East’s commuter traffic. With such heavy rolling stock moving in and out of the depot each day the proper preparation of the substrates and the correct products to suit the needs of the job was vital. As were the health and safety implications of working in an environment where carriages weighing several tons are being moved around and a live electrical current of 750 volts in close proximity. 

The task was to clean, prepare and recoat the depot floor with a hard wearing, easy to clean coating system that could be applied in the time available around the depots working schedule.

The Protective Coatings team specified a combination of Pegasol and Rust-O-Thane 9200WB from Rust-Oleum to achieve the best long-lasting finish for the job.

Pegasol was chosen for its excellent anti-slip properties and can be used in car parks, balconies and terraces to name but a few. The water-based formula is odourless and fast drying to aid minimum disruption to working time. Its water resistant qualities has excellent adhesion to most surfaces.

Rust-O-Thane 9200WB is great for use in conjunction with Pegasol and is a top coat based on two-component water-based polyurethane offering protection against solvents, moderate alkalines, weak acids and chemical cleaning, the flexible, low odour formula is also weather and UV resistant.

The combination of these two outstanding Rust-Oleum products, and with the support and expertise from Brewers, the Slade Green Maintenance Depot will be on track for many years to come.
